Offering evidence-informed support, with opportunities to integrate creative processes and time in nature. Sessions are held outdoors at the Neighbourhood Farm in Corinda, Brisbane or indoors or outdoors at alternative locations in the Brisbane and Logan regions (as negotiated). Online counselling is also offered.
Incorporating creative practices into counselling offers gentle, novel ways to explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences that can be difficult to put into words. Approaches such as drawing, collage, nature-based practices, journaling, symbolism, and metaphor invite deeper self-reflection and insight, supporting emotional expression in a way that feels safe and accessible. Creative practices engage both mind and body, allowing clients to move beyond purely cognitive talk therapy and connect with their inner world in a more intuitive, meaningful way.

Art therapy is a specialised, accredited modality that uses art-making as the primary therapeutic intervention and is delivered by formally trained art therapists. Creative practices in counselling, by contrast, are used as supportive tools within a broader counselling framework to enhance reflection, expression, and insight. The focus is not on artistic skill or analysis of the artwork, but on the client’s experience, meaning-making, and the therapeutic conversation that emerges alongside the creative process.
You don’t need to consider yourself creative or artistic to engage in creative practices in counselling. These approaches are about exploration and expression, not producing artwork or “doing it right.” All activities are gentle, optional, and adapted to your comfort level, and many clients are surprised to find that simple, everyday forms of creativity can help them access insight in ways talking alone sometimes can’t.
Yes, absolutely. Sessions can be entirely conversation-based, with no expectation to engage in creative activities. While a creative and reflective lens underpins how I work — shaping curiosity, meaning-making, and exploration — creative practices are always optional and introduced only if and when they feel supportive. Your preferences, comfort, and goals guide our work together.
My work is grounded in evidence-based counselling approaches including Person-Centred Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Ecotherapy. A creative lens underpins all of my work, shaping how sessions unfold through curiosity, metaphor, reflection, and meaning-making — even when sessions are entirely conversation-based. These approaches are tailored to each client and may be used on their own or integrated with creative practices, depending on your needs and goals.
An urban farm offers a calm, natural setting that supports nervous system regulation, presence, and reflection. Being outdoors and connected with nature can help reduce stress, support emotional regulation, and make counselling feel more accessible and less clinical. The farm environment also provides opportunities for gentle movement, sensory engagement, and nature-based metaphors that can deepen insight and support wellbeing.
Sessions can still go ahead comfortably in most weather. The farm has shaded areas and a small undercover space, with water and tea/coffee facilities available. If outdoor sessions aren’t suitable on the day, we can move to an indoor room in Hillcrest (Logan), arrange short-term access to a room at a Brisbane location, switch to an online appointment, or reschedule if required. Options are always discussed in advance so you can feel at ease.
Walk and talk therapy is a counselling session held while walking outdoors, rather than sitting in a room. Moving through nature can help reduce stress, increase focus, and make it easier to reflect and process emotions. The conversation and therapeutic support remain the same as a traditional session — it’s simply offered in a more dynamic, natural setting.
Absolutely. Even outdoors, your sessions are private and confidential. We meet in quiet, secluded areas of the farm and surrounds, and everything you share is treated with the same care and professional confidentiality as in any counselling session.
